Learning how to train a cat and stopping bad cat behavior will take time and patience but you'll change any cat behavior problem with positive reinforcement. This can come in the form of using treats to encourage your cat to prevent doing certain things you don't want them to do.

First things first, NEVER USE PHYSICAL PUNISHMENT on your cat or any animal. This it appalling behavior on your part and can be punishable by law. This type of punishment will not change a cat behavior downside and will likely have the other affect. You will see even more bad cat behavior if you cause you cat to be frightened of you.

We have a tendency to often see this in cat's reaction to children because of the actual fact that the child may have been left unsupervised while playing with the cat. Many times young youngsters will strike out at a cat or kitten and this will cause the cat to react badly not only toward children however often adults as well.

For this reason although a little off subject, invariably supervise young children when they are around any animals and teach them how to treat a pet.

Some times cats will use bad behaviors just to urge some attention. Sure enough, it did get your attention. You'll need to find out why your cat is using this particular bad cat behavior merely to get your attention. This is the time to strengthen the constructive support training for your cat.

Treat rewards are constructive support with training your cat. As you start to learn how to train a cat, use these treats every time they do what you want them to do or even if they are available close. Treats should be small cat food items that your cat has not had before. Make positive, once you search for a treat that it is a healthy treat, small, and tempting to your cat, liver treats are the most effective for a cat, unless you know your cat is not a liver lover.

Treating a cat when you are training him will not build him fat as long as exercise is included daily. Once the training is over you will want to decrease the treats for the good behavior to a couple of times per day.
